That's right fellow bass fishing buddies. I have heard thru a really good source that either Cabelas's or Bass Pro will be comming to Oregon. The new developer that has taken over the Keizer station project has the strings and contacts to make this happen! They are looking for a destination place to put the Keizer Station on the map. What better store then Cabelas's or Bass Pro. They are talking to both right now to see what they can work out. When I hear more I will pass it along. Nothing is written in stone but it would be great!

Been to BassPro in two states and haven't been impressed.
I'll hit Cabelas first weekend of next month, will reserve judgement till then.

I'd settle for either one. I enjoy having lots of options.

Having been to both, Cabelas stuff is higher quality and the product line is better suited to the NW.

Either would be interesting.

I thought they put a stop to that one? I would be stoked on the location, about 4 minutes from work....

Wouldn't it be great if you could just "contact" a company like Bass Pro Shops and request that they build a multi-million dollar bass fishing supply store in an area with almost no bass fishing because you're trying to get some little area "on the map"? he he. Sorry, just had to point out how much wishful thinking that is- I wish they would, too, but I have my doubts to say the least. I will be shocked if Sportsman's builds a new store. The Cabelas in Lacey carries 34% of all Cabelas merchandise in that store- we're just not the big buyers like they are in the midwest and getting the merchandise here is expensive! Let's all hope for a miracle- that sure would be nice- I would prefer Cabela's!

I would love a Cabela's here in the Portland area. I've been to the store in Boise, and the one in Kearny, NE. it was like visiting fishing Mecca... :thisbig:

I absolutely love the aquariams - monster fish of all freshwater species (especially the huge rainbows, browns, smallmouth...oooh yeah)

The Elmer Keith Museum in Boise is pretty awesome too, if you know who Elmer Keith is/was and what he meant to shooting sports and hunting (give you a hint - Dirty Harry would've been packing some other caliber if it were not for Mr. Keith's work)

The fishing tackle selection was better than I've seen in any other sporting goods store around. GI Joes and Sportsmans don't hold a candle to either Cabela's store.

I'm not much for BP, their prices are too high compared to Joes or Cabelas.

I'd also be giddy as a school girl if Sportsmans were to open a store in Beaverton or Hillsboro. The drive to 82nd can be a PITA sometimes.

Oh come on guys what's wrong w/ Dicks???

Dave, BP doesn't sell just bass stuff. Some local access to Redhead gear would be nice.
But I have to agree w/ ya on the market size. Buy w/ Joes carrying more and more high margin crap, rather than QUALITY hunting and fishing gear, I'll wish and vote for Bass Pro to come everyday.

I went to BPS in Oklahoma City and was a bit dissapointed. I'm sure being more into walleye than bass has something to do with it. I'd rather see a Cabelas myself. However, with the economy, I wouldn't expect to see much venture capital being thrown about for awhile....

We just got a new Sportsman's Warehouse, in Medford, bout 25 miles from here. Spent about half an hour talking/learning about fly fishing from a fella named Chester Conklin. What a great ambassador for fly fishing...Never done it before, but I aim to soon.
