I am thinking of replacing my guttless sage 7136 brownie for something in the Burkie lineup that would have a bit more power but retain the same ability to cast long bellies with finess and fishability, I dont want a heavier stick.

It would be a dedicated full floater stick with no intention of going the skagit, scandi way of lining, only long bellies (either the Powerspey, midspey or maybe even an airflo).

Contact Kerry direct; his email can be found through his site (google cfbflyrods ). I just picked up one of his 7133-3 and am digging it so far...

If you're looking for a 7wt full floating long belly rod have you considered a 15' Meiser Highlander? Bob can build it to fit any reel seat, including a Hardy Perfect, no worries.

I have heard good things about the Meiser's.

A 15' 7wt is one heck of a long one, I think a bit more than what I am wanting.

The rod I am after is a rod that is yet to go into production- a 13' something" 4 piece Burkheimer. I met with Kerry today and it just might happen sooner than later. I guess he has some other people interested in it. As of yet its on paper and in his head.

I cast his 7127-4 w/6-7 mid spey and it was sweet. Finess, power and flex all in one, but a bit too short for me (6'3") and my long bellies.

I think that I will stick with Kerry and crew. He has treated me well in the past and is only minutes from my house and I love his rods- its meant to be.

Check out Burkie's 13'3" for 7. It's an excellent long line rod but will handle short stuff w/tips too. I've cast the long Delta and the 75' Carron with it and its excellent.

Meiser makes some Amazing rods! I have 2 and have cast every model he has many times. His 13' 6/7/8 or 7/8/9 Highlander Series are great long belly and scando rods. He also has some new designs which take aspects of the Highlander and MKS rods which are amazingly light.

Either way, support our regional independent builder's - the more we do, the better sticks they'll make for us all to enjoy.

I've got that same stick; great rod. Living in NE OR I asked Kerry what he'd recommend for the regional rivers, which is what I primarily fish, and that was his first suggestion. Very pleased so far.
