I am gearing up for the annual fall lower JD trip where we launch at LePage and camp at the boaters park upriver. Some of the guys in my party say they are planning to drive up to Cottonwood bridge and take kayaks down to McDonald. I declined, and told them that I thought they would spend as much time dragging their kayaks as they would fishing. Was I wrong or right? Anyone ever fish this stretch of river this late in the year and what was the water/fishing is like? We are targeting SMB and Steelhead if it is open.
