Spent four days in Sunriver with kids and their spouses and two grand children. Had a great time biking and at the pool, but I brought a couple of rods with me.

Went to the Crooked River yesterday, weather was beautiful. Fished Devils Post Pole? and Poison headed down stream to a spot with a small island and a fairly deep channel. The island had a wooden post at the down stream end.

I casted upstream and the belly of the line caught on some bushes at the side of the stream, I flipped the line off the bushes and over the top of the post, there was a lot of slack. I started to pull the line off the top of the post and I felt a tug. Striped in the slack and the slow methodical pull of a whitey was felt, a pretty good one, no jumping, the swift current made the fight fun. He swam towards me and picked up a huge pile of moss and then the fight was on. He and the moss got back to the current and my drag was singing. I did land him, about 11 or 12 inches long, the moss was about the same size.

Caught a trout about 10 inches and three more whitey's, and made the drive home. Had a blast. last:thisbig:

Sounds like you accidently discovered how to stack mend. That is a deadly technique and takes some practice to fish effectively. I don't care if it's a whitefish, and fish is a fish!
