Tuan and I fished out of Cedar Oak today. We hit the water (64 degrees) at 6:30AM at the usual spot near the boat ramp (you all know where I'm talking about) and fish were boiling everywhere. We hadn't fished there in several weeks so it took us a few minutes before we realized that they were mostly carp. Regardless, we started throwing frogs and spooks and had a couple of blow ups but hooked none. We switched to plastics and our first fish was 2-12 (see pic) on a drop shotted Robo worm. Not a bad start! We moved to the East side after a bit and found a spot that we hadn't fished before but looked extremely fishy... lots of deep boulders surrounded with a rocky point. 2 or 3 casts... and BAM! Our next fish... my new Smallie PB... 3-12, on the same robo worm! Could the next fish be 4-12? It wasn't meant to be. We caught a few more... mostly in 15-25 feet of water off bouldered and rip-rap edges... near the points. Tuan and I had a great time. We didn't catch many, but those two fish made our day! Ryan, let's get out next weekend... wish you could have joined us.

Good looking fish Kurt.... we should have stayed local instead of going to the worst bass lake in Oregon....

We will be out next weekend for sure.

Congrats on your PB

That fish was a pig, at first Kurt thought it was an average size fish because it didn't fight as he reeled it to the surface. But as soon as it got a glimpse of us on the boat that fish took off like a bat out of hell. She even did some nice aerial acrobatics. It was a treat watching Kurt land the fish.:applause:

Overall we (as in Kurt) had some nice sized fish for the day, much better than the summer dink fest that we've been used to lately.

Great job on a new PR! I wish I could actually see the picture, instead of the silly "red X", but thats what you get for having a work computer that blocks most everything! Still, great job!

Thanks for all your support guys... I really appreciate it! Though this is a personal best for me, I haven't been Bass fishing long (3 yrs now) and I get the feeling that a 3-12 Smallie is not too unusual for the lower Willi. How about you? How often would you say you catch one of this size on the Willi and what is your biggest Willi Bass? Please share your photos as well. Thanks.

I've heard of 6+lbers out of that area, my biggest is real close to five lbs. Either very early spring or fall is the best time to get them. In fall you can get into schools of 3 and 4lbers!
