Honda 7.5 Motor info

Hello,

I purchased a 12' skiff recently and am looking at purchasing a kicker motor for fishing and mess'n around.

Is there anyone that has the Honda 7.5 hp motor or a 8 or any 4 stroke in this hp range that has it on a similiar type of boat and how it performs?

I was wondering if this type of motor would get on a plane with two adults? weight issues or any comments would be appreciated!

I had a 12 foot smokercraft car topper with a 8hp honda. It would plane on lower elevation but not at East or Paulina lakes at 6,000ft. I used in Yaquina bay and it scooted along. Hope this helps

Yes, it did get on a plane at sea level with two guys. But every thousand feet in elevation you could feel the power loss. The Honda was also very heavy for such a small boat. I love 4 strokes but you might look at a 15hp two stroke just because of the weight on the small transom.
