Hey Metal Head, there are several good patterns out there and it doesn't matter who you ask, every answer or reply will be diffrent. I think it matters on the type of water that your fishing on just how succesful you will be with a pattern but you have named some great rivers. I like a flash fly, egg sucking leech, or comet in the Cowlitz and I like small egg patterns in the Kalama. Like I said this is just my 2 cents. Good luck and stick with it.

Geez, guess I pretty much have to respond to this post since you asked me personally !
For starters, in my experience there is no such thing as a "good dependable" coho fly because coho are probably the most undependable, unpredictable anadromous fish that swims.
Clackamas fish can be especially tough to catch, - if not impossible at times. When I first tried fishing for them in the early 90's I got so frustrated I actually took a tying kit to the river. Anything larger than a size 6, or that wasn't tied very sparsely spooked them. I finally got some follows, and eventually some hookups on this pattern:

I've had success with this pattern elsewhere for coho, steelhead, and chinook. Even so, I choose coho patterns based more on the river I'm fishing, and water/weather/light conditions.
For better info check a couple of recent posts on this very topic.
Good luck.
Do a google for Rolled Muddler. Hot ticket in BC where I fished coho on the fly. Quite sparse version of the venerable Muddler Minnow...

Similar to SilverFly’s pattern, I would suggest that you tie up a few Teeny nymphs in chartreuse. #6 or 8.
