We have half a beef left. $2.00# hanging. Butchering 1st part of Oct. Black baldy heifer. Should go about 850 live guestimation. Not horribly big. Been on cob since July along with hay and pasture
Also have half pork left. We butcher them averaging about 200#s. Been on hog feed and and natural foods(unfertalized grass clipping and unsellable produce). NO SLOP, NO SWILL. $200 per half
Both will be cut and wrapped at Willamina Meat Service. When delivered I will get the weight and call you for the beef. You pay us. Then on pick up you pay them for the cut and wrap fees. For the pork, you pay us then it is delivered to the meat cutter. On pick up you pay him the cut and wrap fees.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask.
No profit is made, the sale pays for our family meat and breakes even on the cost of raising the animals.
Thanks

Guys, this is a really good deal. If you don't have the means to raise animals yourself (hell, even if you do) and are looking for quality meat then this is something to seriously consider.
I might be selling a similar deal in the near future too. With the price of meat of these days its worth considering.

what would be a general estimate for how much it would cost for cut and wrap?
I'm seriously interested in the pork here!! half a beef is too much $$$ for our budget.

I think it was around 55c or 58c per # last year. Smoke and curing was I think about 97c per #.
I haven't used them cause we cut and cure our own stuff. This is from a fuzzy memory with sketchy info from last year. Don't hold this in stone it's just what I seem to remember from talking with the meat cutter last year when we dropped off then.
If you have a local shop you could call them and I'm sure that things wouldn't vary to much. I will also call our meat cutter tomorrow to find out for sure at the time of the call.
Another option:
If you would like to bypass the butcher and cut your own we can arrange that also. Slaughtering here and taking the weight for the beef. The pork could also be slaughtered and taken home with you. All you would need are coolers or bags to keep everything clean durring travel.

Just got off the phone with the meat cutter. Pick up of pork will be this or begining of next week. Should be ready for pick up about a week after. Beef will be a couple weeks from now at the earliest for butchering, or longer depending on what the buyer wants to do.
Cut and wrap cost is:
Beef - 56c per pound strait cut and wrap. $1.00 per pound for anything smoked, cured, or spice mixed.
Pork - same as beef, 56c strait cut and wrap. $1.00 per poound for anything smoked, cured or spice mixed.

The meat cutter, neighbor(47 years cattle) and me think that the 850 mark may be a bit low. We all came up with closer to 1000 live weight. The meat cutter estimates a half will hang in about 350 to 400 give or take a bit. So I will go with that right now, he has lots more experience estimating this stuff than I do. This is all estimate nothing concrete. Scheduled for pick up by meat cutter on Oct 27th. Hang for I think he goes about 2 weeks then cut. Tenetive ready time would be about the week of Nov. 10th for pick up.
