I run a 3.5 horse Nissan on my 12 foot aluminum car top boat and it is really reliable and very light. Just wish it was faster. I use my Min Kota electric for trolling. So I heard mention here of a company that makes high speed props for my little motor. Can anyone share experience and or link me to the manufacturer? I searched archives with no luck. Thanks much

Sorry, I doubt if there's a prop that will make a 3.5hp engine make a 12' boat go fast... it's just not a lot of power. If you want to go faster I suspect you'll want a prop with a bigger engine attached.

You may be right. But I did hear talk of an aftermarket prop co, . Never hurts to ask. I believe the Nissan only weigh's around 37 pounds.

Wise words ... There is no substitute for horsepower ...

How fast is fast? I expect that any prop with a pitch greater than the greatest one offered by Nissan for that motor will not allow your motor to reach maximum rpms so you will not gain anything. If your little motor is not getting your boat on plane then your maximum speed is the hull speed for your boat which should be between 6 and 8 mph at the max. What is your maximum speed now?

I am gettin about 6 MPH with myself and two of my kids ages 6 7& 9 . To my knowledge Nissan does not offer a prop other than stock. Perhaps I was dreaming about the after market prop. How about a nitrus boost? Just kidding.

You are getting just about the maximum out of that motor. You are about hull speed, now. Nissan usually offers 2 or 3 prop sizes for most of their outboards. Check their website but no matter what prop you use, I doubt you will get even an extra 1 mph out of the 3.5 hp outboard with that load. You will need a motor large enough to get the boat on plane to go much faster.
