I was hoping someone could tech me something about this fish finder. My problem is it doesn't seem to mark fish. I've had it for almost 2 years and have yet to see it show a fish arch. I've been in lots of lakes where the fish have been thick and all I've ever seen are dots. I've tried the default setting, played with the sensitivity, noise reduction, chart speed and clarity features and nothing works. When it run it on the fish symbol mode it will show what it thinks are fish but I know that's not always accurate.

Also, it seems to show a lot of clutter/interference on the top 20 feet of the water no matter where I fish and when your fishing a hole thats only 30 feet deep that sucks.

Any help/advise would be appreciated.

I would start with pulling out the manual and resetting everything to the factory settings - basically a reboot of the unit.

had the same issues, check that the transducer is level. I thought mine was "close enough" and was actually about 3 degrees high, when I realigned it it now shows arches. It's time consuming but you have to move the star washers till you get it.

This is a biggie.

If you're running a 180x180 pixel and trying to see small fish like trout it's going to be tough.

If you've got a 360x360, or higher.....

All noise filters off, in clear water.
Sensitivity up, until clutter starts to show in the depth you believe the fish should be.
Zoom in, 2x to start, and push up/down arrows to show area you believe fish should be. Zooming is very important as it concentrates ALL your pixels into a smaller area, say from 14' to 26', rather than 0' to 30' with a bunch of surface clutter to boot due to the high sensitivity.
If you're sitting still, fish will be lines.
If you/fish are moving, fish will show as arcs, as long as the fish are moving mostly through the center of the cone(transducers view area).

This is just a start, and some of the basics. When I got my 480x480 color unit and talked to the Lowrance reps they led me to these few tips and VOILA!! I was seeing fish. I've learned to see springers while trolling, and perch while anchored, but don't think I've figured out the salmon/steelhead while on anchor thing yet.

All the info you need is available on that screen, as long as the unit has the high pixel/power thing, the key is figuring out how to read it.

My gallery has acouple of screen shots from perch fishing in very clear water, you can click my handle and veiw my gallery to see them if you want.
