Getting ready to take a trip to Thompson Reservoir out of Silver Lake. I have never fished it and was wondering if anyone out there had any tips. I will be fishing out of a boat and and am curious what the favored trolling rigs are. Thanks for any input.

There was some discussion on this a few weeks back. Check the archives.

I haven't fished it for 10+ years, but we would tie up to the dead heads near the dam, thread a whole worm, use a small swivel tied to your line with an inline sinker.
The key is to throw it out and pull a ton of slack in your line. The fish will eat the worm and really swallow it before it can feel the tension of the line.
My wife caught a 5 lb rainbow out of there in 1990.
Some guys were flyfishing it with wooly buggers, but we had no luck doing that. The worms were the ticket.
