Fished Timothy the last three days only caught one but it was about 24" and 5lbs. I tried something different that I have been tinkering with before. I motored out to the middle of the lake early in the morning before the wind kicked up, rigged up a nightcrawler on a baitholder hook with a four foot leader and an ounce of lead. I dropped it straight to the bottom in appr. 50 or 60 ft of water, then reeled up a couple cranks.
The first day I did this it took no longer than 10 seconds to get bit, three nice pulls and I set the hook and whiffed, I reeled in to find my worm cleanly severed below the hook. Shortly after this the wind kicked up and threw off my presentation. the next day I used the same presentation but this time when the lunker came knockin I let him munch for a good twenty seconds, then I crossed his eyes.
I think I almost have this method perfected, it has worked for me at a couple different lakes but I think the key is little to no wind and deep water.
