I haven't been up there since June. The fishing was very good then, and the fish were delicious. Anyway, I am taking a friend from China up there this weekend, and I was hoping to get a report on the fishing and the taste of the fish. My concern is that the fish will be getting a muddy taste like they do in Crane and Ochoco later in the summer.

Thanks in advance for any info you are willing to share.

Cousins were up there last weekend and brought home five very nice bows with pink meat. Havent heard how they tasted yet. At first when they said pink meat I was sure they were catching kokes and thought they were bows but i went and had a look for myself and they were definately rainbows.

OK here's another one. 4 of us fished Saturday morning and kept 16 from 14-16" long. We fished along the campground across the lake from the lodge in 25 feet of water. We pulled trolling gear for a little while but the guys I was with wanted to anchor up so thats what we did. 6 lb. leaders 4' long, #18 trebles, power bait of whatever color fished from the bottom. We had to move to several different spots to find the fish. The fish are picking up an algae/muddy taste.

My wife and I got home from Diamond Lake this afternoon after camping there for a week. We only fished one day, last Thursday, and the fishing was good.
We picked up three 14"-16" fish, one 19" and one 22". The 22" went about five pounds and was a blast to catch with a five foot ultra light rod with 4# test. Worm, marshmallow, and a red Patzkee did the trick. The best fishing was right off Thielsen View campground, but there were boats all over the lake.
We ate the 19" Thursday night and the meat was a bright orange-red like a fresh fall chionook. The 22" fish was not as orange-red, but still good color. The three smaller fish all had light pink meat. All of the fish we ate tasted fine with no muddy flavor. SG
