Hello everyone,
I am new to ifish but was wondering if anyone has been to Little Cultus this year? I am looking for a good place to camp so I and the kids can fish and also swim. Not to sure how bad the bugs are this year. We went to
Walton Lake in the Ochacos last weekend and had a blast. One of the guys in the group was catching some nice planters on the bottom, 12-14 inch range. I like the Cultus area, just not sure of were to camp on Little Cultus, campground or other?

I was at the campground on Little Cultus a couple of weeks ago. It looks like a real nice place. We were just passing through, so I don't know a lot about it, but you can get all the info you need from the state parks website, I'm pretty sure. I'd bet you'll need plenty of bug spray.

Little Cultus is one of my favorite spots! I have camped both in the campground and on the North side of the lake. There is a trail going around the lake on the north side and a great spot that is kind of away from everyone else. You have to get there before anyone else obviously but it is worth it.
Fish the north side of the lake if you are bank fishing and also if you are fishing from a boat. there is a channel that parallels the bank and we always do fairly well there earlier in the season. All of my older kids grew up fishing that bank and I have many photos of them with their catches strung up between them on willow branches. [Good Memories] Use a sliding sinker above 30" leader and swivel. We always used to use fire eggs and worms. Power bait worked well on some days. float your bait up off the bottom with a marshmellow for better action.

After scouting the area around Little Cultus, we deceided to go over to the Davis arm of Wickiup. The trip was very relaxing and we all had a great time. We only fished in the evening with little success. My seven year old son wanted to fish Sunday morning before we packed up and I agreed. We got up early and fished from the bank for a couple hours before my oldest son wanted to throw around a lure. I had my steelhead rod in the trailer and told him it still a Little Cleo on it and he could throw it around for awhile. After about 20-30 cast he gave up and set the rod down. I picked up the rod and on the first cast thought I got hung up on something and ended up reeling in a 21" brown. The only fish caught all weekend was a really nice one.
