I had a great week of fishing at Odell and Crescent Lake. I met up with the guy from California (Razz) that got me started kokanee fishing a few years ago and we killed them at Crescent.

We limited the boat with my oldest son two days on UV Apex, and Glow hoochies. We did fish my spinners for a wile and caught several fish. Then Razz put a hoochie on so I speeded up the boat witch killed my spinners but his hoochie started nailing bigger fish, 13.5”- 16”.We released several fish under that.

I fished Odell with another friend of mine a few mornings and we did ok on glow spinners at 35’. It was his first time kokanee fishing and now he is hooked.

I learned so much more from fishing with Razz this trip I can’t possibly write it all down in one post, but over the next few months I will tri to share some of what I learned with you.

One thing to try is take your Sling Blade and put a good bow in it. Then tie your hoochie or tube 8” behind that. The action that it gives off is awesome and it really worked on the fish in Crescent.

Good luck to all on the water this weekend. ET

Looks like some nice kokanee, ElkTalker! I was at Crescent about a month ago and had a blast, as well. Focussed on the mackinaw and browns in the mornings, kokanee in the evenings.

Did you happen to notice how those fishing for the macks and browns were doing at Crescent???

Almost every one I spoke with was fishing for kokanee and only a few guys were fishing for Macks. I did not here of any caught at Crescent.

I picked up a 17” Mack at Odell on a spinner and I saw another good one landed and released the same day.

OK, thanks. Was pretty much like that while we were up there, too. We did alright, especially being our first time on the lake...one brown at 6 lbs, and 2 macks landed at 9 1/2 lbs and 16 lbs...and another in the teens lost. And, the kokanee fishing in the evenings was good, and much better than being eaten by the mosquitoes back at camp!! Five days wasn't quite enough, though!

I'm hooked on the lake now!

Wow........Small world :D We were camped in the spot next to Razz at East Lake before he headed over to Crescent and Odell. I took him fishing for Browns for a couple of hours the morning he left. I 'm not much of a Kokanee fisherman but I could tell he was very knowledgeable and a nice guy to boot. Tell him hi for me next time you talk to him.

Nice job on the Kokes

So do you bow it up or down? I am thinking you would bow the front down but I'm not sure. I would suppose you only get one chance at bending it the right way.

Did the bent sling blade give it more action than say a seps or jenson dodger of about the same size???

The tape on the sling blade is down. I bowed it down and when I layed it flat on the table the bow is about 1" up. The action was greater then any other dodger I have. I plan to bow one even greater on my next outing. ET
