View Full Version : Hosmer help?
I'm heading up to Hosmer this weekend to go camping and fishing. I've never been there but I've heard it has quite the scenic setting. I know it is fly fishing only, but I have not done a lot of fly fishing. I have a fly rod, but am mostly clueless as to what to use. Any advice as to what flies I should bring and what tippet? Any other advice would be hugely appreciated also (presentation, location, etc.). I will have a pontoon boat or a kayak. PMs always welcome.

You might try trolling with flies. at times works pretty good and would be easier from the boat. as far as pattern, I'd stay with nymph's or streamers, various colors but mostly browns, tans, greens and black.
should be fun and relaxing. heard the skeeters can be big and bad up there though.
have fun

Hopefully these search links will help. My suggestion is to post this same question on the flyfishing forum.

olive damselfly nymphs for the daytime, troll a spruce fly or anything with red on it in the early am or evening, you wont be able to keep them off. f you happen to catch any bass, please kill all of them no matter the size!
there are bass in Hosmer???
