I was going to run out this evening after work. I was told to long line spinners for trout. Any other tips?

We were there over the 4th of July weekend and had a great time. If you are fishing from a boat, the area where the canal dumps in and the current slows was productive for us. We fished worms off the bottom and some with bobbers. We also saw a few people doing well off of the fishing pier, letting bobber and worms drift out of the canal into the reservoir.
