Hello All,

Be out on the lakes again this weekend looking for rainbows. I was advised to use wedding rings. I was wondering if any of your "Tip" the hook or hooks with any bait? Do you tip 1 or both hooks? Also, I have always used a dodger with a wedding ring, any other rigs that work well with wedding rings?

THANKS

We always use nightcwalers and a peice of white shoepeg corn on the very tip of the hook works great everywhere for rainbows and kokes also. Lake trolls work well with wedding rings or add a little weight and troll them by themselves. Which lakes are you fishing?

Thanks for the tip. We will be at Lost Creek and Maybe Howard Prairie, most likely. Still haven't hammered out the details.:D

Burkley Crappie Nuggets in the white color was working earlier in the year. Corn is cheaper and works just as well.

Sometimes I have done very well with a cocktail shrimp with a piece of corn on the end.

When I trout fish, I run a piece of worm up the shank of the hooks to give the wedding ring better action when useing a dodger, instead of balling the worm up on the hooks. Mack's Tackle has flashlite gangtrolls and hot wings that work well with wedding rings, and don't produce alot of drag.

definitely agree that the worm slid up the shank of the hook works better than a ball on the curved part, I use a threader to get the hook to slide through the worm. I also agree that the shrimp can be a producer, and the corn has worked at times. Caution on the corn though, be sure you are not covering the point, I think I have missed alot of fish by doing it wrong. I always try to expose the tip of the hook, and it is easier to do with a worm slid all the way up the shank than any other bait I have tried. Biggest thing for me is color combinations and leader length, I try lots of different combos but have settled on plain threaded crawlers long ago.

This is the basic way I set up my wedding rings for trout trolling. I change hook types for different baits and sometimes leader lengths, and color of stack beads etc, but most of them are made very similar to this one. I ususlly troll them behind a Panther Martin Lake troll and do well.

I will pm you with more details later

Just one more hook tipper to add to the excellent advice already given. I've had pretty good success tipping the hook with first a kernel of shoepeg corn and then one red Pautske egg on the end. You'll have to pull some out of the jar and let them dry out for a while so they'll stay on the hook. Used them for both trout and kokes on both Wedding Rings and Needlefish. Maybe adds a little color or action to the lure? Then again maybe it doesn't really make a difference at all. Reckon only the fish know for sure. At the very least it looks impressive and makes the Pautske company happy.

looking at that picture, do you put a swivel below the beads and then trail some more leader to the hook behind that? I have used a trailer hook like that, but never gone without the hook right at the beads too. Ever done a side by side comparison with the standard rig? I don't have a picture of my rig, but I would suggest turning the snap swivel at the top end around and attaching it to the flashers. makes for quicker changes. All my trolling gear has a snap at the trailing end, I wish lure jensen would do that for me. Are you listening buzz?

Wow! Thanks everyone for the advice. My wife and I were at lost creek this weekend. I used a Sep's dodger and wedding ring combo tipped with a plan old nightcrawler. Once we found our spot we trolled back and forth and caught 6 x 10-12" rainbows back to back. Good time out on the lake. Fishing only seem to be good there first thing in the AM though.

Thanks again!!
