View Full Version : yamhill area bass ponds?
meat hunter

Background: I grew up in Idaho and was a life long bass fisherman until I moved here in 98' and started catching salmon and steelhead and have since forgot all about bass.
Now I have an 8yr old son who loves to fish and we hit the Nestucca about once a week. He likes fishing for steelhead but has never fished a farm pond for a bass.
Can anyone help us out regarding a place to fish near Yamhill.
It would be just he and I. We leave gates the way we find them, don't tear down fences, always come home with garbage left by others and will release anything we catch.
We'd be more than willing to help with chores, put up hay or what ever is needed in trade for a little bass action.
Thanks for any help!

With a name like meat hunter:passout: you may not get much feed back.
Do you C&R 100% or not???
Thanks

Question answered already.
The reason he is not getting much feedback is because there are not many that know of farm ponds that people will let a stranger fish.:twocents:

i use to get access from a couple people to fish private ponds, but cant do it anymore. It's begun to be a huge liability with people on their property. there are plenty of places to fish in the yamhill area that are public, and if you have a small jon boat you will catch them. even a canoe or pontoon boat will get you fish easily. also, even if you say you C&R, meat hunter isn't helping ya :twocents:. people with farm ponds are usually very cautious about their ponds. also, many farm ponds are not fished because the farmers dont care to fish it. meaning they arent ifish users. so do some google earth, then drop some letters in the mail boxes offering to help clean it or chores or whatever. but with liability problems these days, its getting harder :passout:

Yes "Meat hunter" not meat fisherman!
I'd love to be a "trophy hunter" but I always end up settling for spike elk and fork n' horn deer.
As for fishing I release everything accept bright finclip salmon and steelhead and a few crappie when we make it home and fish Brownlee.
I flyfish and bait fish, I'm not a purist, just a guy who fishes.
I don't snag or floss but I will shoot carp with my bow all day long!
Thanks for the suggestions.
I married a local farm girl but her family doesn't fish so I thought I'd start here first since you guys do fish.
I'll call the father in law tonight and see if he has any neighbors who have ponds.
