I just went to San Vincente Reservior because I heard the cappie and redear sunfish were larger there than the other lakes. heres the proof

16-17" crappie, weighed in at 2.38 lbs. we didnt have a measuring tape so we used the ruler on the cooler lid. This was the largest one we caught. most were 14-15".

Heres a large redear sunfish. We were catching these sunfish on regular redworms. Most of them are all this size. These sunfish fight as hard as 2lb smallmouths. I had a blast pulling these when the bass and crappie weren't hitting. If you dont watch your rod these sunfish will pull it in the water haha.

Two largemouths broke my line because I was only using 8lb test, and didnt loosen my drag on my spinning rod. They were at least 5lb.

It gets pretty hot out there because that lake is in a really dry desert like area. I had to use plenty of sunblock and kept a wet rag on my head to stay cool. This is probably my favorite lake to go to in San Diego. Lake Hodges is second on my list, but i didnt make it there this time.

I think it's because you are linking and posting the pics from the Kodak site. You will probably need to upload them to the photobucket site used here on ifish to make it work.

Next time you go down try fishing El Cap. I used to fish there fairly often and it can be a blast.

i actually went to El Cap on the 29th, but there were too many people on seadoos, and sportboats out there. we saw bass splashing baitfish in the morning, but they wouldnt hit my topwater baits. i skunked that day haha thats why i don't have any pics from there. my uncle caught a few 3lb catfish though. I think San Vincente is gonna be the spot to hunt for some record breakers. They're closing after this summer til sometime between 2014-2017 because they're doing work on the dam. thats 6-9 yrs with no pressure. I can't wait til they reopen.

WOW. That brim is a pig. That's the kind we caught all the time in S. Arkansas. Brim is catchall name for all the sunfish family, blue gill, pumkinseed, Govt, Redear. When you hook up your line would literally sing as they saw back and forth. Nothing, in my opinion, fight harder than brim. Good stuff. That will be thee lake when they open up it back up.
