Me and my buddy Big Kris went south for a little smallie fishin' on friday to the Umpqua. After dropping off daughter and mother at grandparents in Sutherlin, we finally got to the boat ramp at Umpqua at about 8:00am. Long story short we probably landed over 100 bass biggest 18" and 6 shad. fishing was a little slow to start but pretty soon we was killin 'em:excited:(not literally of course) they were hittin small spinnerbaits in the shallows and the bait of the day ended up being Berkley gulp minnows in a 2.5 size rigged with a gami splitshot/dropshot size2 hook pinned through the nose and a small splitshot about two feet up the line. Pulled out of the james woods boat ramp about 5:30. I think we were the only floaters on the whole drift that day! Sorry no pics, Just thought I'd share the awesome day of fishing!!!!!

Thanks for the post guys. I am heading down that way soon. How are water levels? Were you fishing from a drift boat?

Water level was nice, felt warm didn't get a temp on it. Took the 16 clacka with the 80minny on the back-really comes in handy in the pools when the wind starts a blowin. I wanna head back asap!:excited:

Put in at Umpqua bridge near the booming metropolis of Umpqua and floated down to James Woods boatramp. You can get a shuttle there at the Umpqua store for $20
