heads up for those that are planning on going there this weekend....went to john days lepage park. got there at 6:30am. lightning sparked fire on hillside above park, sign on road at pay kiosk CLOSED. ranger came by said they are in process of evac lepage and phillipi (boat in campground).........call first may save u some $ in gas $. asked ranger if we could just boat in from washington side to go fish the narrows, he said he did not have problem with that so that is what we did. the fire was still burning and did not see anyone fighting it at noon when we were done. hills are black and ugly, amazing how fast that fire had consumed compared to when we first saw it at lepage. if u do go watch for deer we almost ran over a swimmer. fishing was good ...pretty cool to have the whole place to ourselves up to when we were done than another couple guys in 1 boat showed up. when we came out we saw a total of 3 boats all the way to the mouth and fire was just burning away(big grass/sage brush fire) ....
