I'm not a regular visitor to the chapel, but was raised catholic and still hold the ideals in my heart, though not an active practitioner. My first born child is due to join us in 5 1/2 weeks, and I've had a few dreams that have me a little worried. I've had the same dream about 4-5 times. Each time my son (soon to be fishing/hunting genious!!) is delivered without problem, buy my wife, best friend and partner in this glorious life never seems to make it through delivery. Everything up to this point with the pregnancy has been smooth as silk, but these dreams pop up every once in a while. I almost feel guilty with how easy it has been to this point for her, and just hope that we're not treading on thin ice only have something go wrong when the time comes. Maybe since it's my first I'm just parnaiond. Cannot imagine life should anything happen to my wife.

Yikes! I hate dreams they seem so real. Sounds like your concerns are being worked out in your dreams. It is okay to to be concerned for her, but as long as she is being cared for the best thing you can do is trust God protect your family. Take peace in Him and enjoy your family!

Letsfish is right on. I had the weirdest dreams before I had my kids.
I probably shouldn't put this on a public forum, but maybe it will put things in perspective for you. In one of the dreams I had, I was the surrogate mother of squirrels. My family was even having a baby shower for them.:passout:No idea where that could possibly have come from. Somewhere in the deep recesses of my little squirrel brain, I guess. Some things are just better left a mystery.
Will pray for you to have peace and that the delivery goes smoothly.

The one thing I can say for sure is that God is NOT trying to prepare you for a tragedy. It's normal to be a little concerned before the birth of a child. Just commit it all to the Lord and enjoy...babies are wonderful! You'll experience (good) emotions that will be overhwelming. Congratulations!

I will say it also. The one thing I can say for sure is that God is NOT trying to prepare you for a tragedy.
Dreams are dreams and that is all that they are. In no way will dreaming a dream make it come true.
And if you think it or say it, it won't make it happen either no mater what some might believe or teach.
I Just prayed that God will give you comfort in the birth of your little one.

These dreams are just a normal part of working through all the anxiety that bringing a child into the world entails. You should ask your wife about her dreams. Weird, scary and sometimes absurd. It is just what happens when the responsibility of a human comes to you.

Hey, guess what? You have now tested to be absolutly normal as an expectant parent! Congrats on the upcoming event and may the Good Lord Bless you with a wonderful child.
As many have stated here already, this is perfectly normal and is spurred on by anxiety. I went through this with each of my children. I wondered if they would be okay, deformed, challenged or have downs syndrom. Each time the worry was for not.
The third child was the most tense of them all. The hospital likes to scare ya with tests when the wife is a little older than the normal than other pregnant women. Our nail bitter lasted for three weeks when one of the test results came back a touch strange or off. They sent us through conseling for the posibility of downs syndrom child. Worst three weeks of my life and the dreams were terrible. God prevailed and it was a bunch of scarey stuff for nothing.
so congrats on being normal.

Thanks for the replies everyone, it has eased my mind. I'm sure everything is fine, just pre-parent jitters. Thankfully I haven't had another dream for a while like that, so that has helped as well. 4 weeks away, can't wait!! :meme:

Fear is an insidious tool of the devil to keep our eyes off of God and to mistrust Him with our lives. I know, because I fight it every day, mostly without reason. Have faith, Brother, in Gods plans for you and your wife. Let us know how it goes. We're praying for all three of you.
