I fished a pond friday night and to my supprise i was catching fish off beds. Well i think i was, but the water was 75 and from the looks of things it has been quite warm for a while.(pond scum). the reason i thought these fish may still be on beds is because i would catch a fish in a pocket then cast right to the same spot and catch another. Everytime i did this i would get the female ,then the male, then nothing after that. Ive always believed that 62-65 degrees and closest to the full moon. Any ideas and input would be great.

are you sure they werent males protecting the bed? do you have n e pics of them, that might help. bloody tails, females all spawned out? It is weird, like you said, water temp is high, and im sure the pond got much warmer quicker as it is a small body of water.

I would believe they are females cause they were about 3.5 lbs and the males only seemed to be about 1.5 lbs. This pond is fed by the river so it is possible that the pond may have rapidly warmed up after the river level dropped. All i had was my camera phone at an arms length while on a pontoon. i'll post a pic of a female in a bit.

I think that one was 3.4. Only weighed 3 hens and they were all within a few ounces.
