Just curious if anyone knew what kind of top speed I might expect with this combo. Both my girlfriend and I. Approx total weight in boat, 430lbs. Thanks for any replies.

I would guess 20-25 mph if it's propped right, mounted at proper height and trimmed correctly.

Plenty of power to get up on plane, you may plane easier with a Doel-fin style attachment - but may not need it, depending on how the hull design and motor placement sync together.

All I have is the metal mounting bracket that came on the boat. What kind of hydrofoil would be the best bet for a decent price? Do I need to get a motor mount that sticks off the back to achieve better speeds? Perhaps I should just ask the place that I am buying it from. Thanks for all the advice. It is appreciated.

3 boats ago, and many years in the past. I had a 13' Smokercraft Alaskan with a 9.9 Merc on it. I couldn't get it to plane until I added a fin, and even then sometimes needed to shift the weight around abit. With the original 15 Evinrude planing didn't seem to be a problem.

Test drive it before you buy it! If it doesn't feel right with you and the salesman in it, don't buy it!! If they won't test drive before you buy it, walk away (very fast)!!!

Fully agree.

The smaller Aluminum boats are always needing weight shifting etc..not a problem on quiet lakes but tiresome on rivers like the Willy.

The Hydrofoils are all somewhat similiar and most quite effective, dont do it if you dont need to though since it requires drilling holes into the Cavitation plate. A 15HP may put you on plane without.

BTW Gregor is a good make.
