I mounted a new outboard motor on my aluminum boat. Anyone know how to seal the bolt holes that are below the water line? I was in the water for several hours on Sunday and took on 2 or 3 gallons of water.
Thanks!

3M makes a sealant and is available at most marine stores. Be sure to get the one that remains flexible.

Thanks Guys. I'll pick some up and have a re-do. Sounds like I should have ask the question prior to installation:cool:

Be careful with the 5200, it seems like once that stuff touches something it is there FOREVER!

I know what you mean about the 5200, I used that stuff to glue the rails on the side of a wooden drift boat a few years ago, dripped some on the shop floor and it is still there today! Have you guys used it on aluminum? It says on the tube it is for use on wood and fiberglass.

5200 is fine for aluminum , it does help bond if surface is sanded with 80 grit before application ...
In colder weather it takes longer than 24 hrs for a full cure ...
Its the same as 3M 4200 just sets and cures faster ...
