taking carb off 15hp Evinrude

I think that the needle valve that lets gas into the bowl is stuck and I am trying to figure out how to get the carb off so I can look. I can't access the right hand nut. Has anyone done this? Any help would be apperciated.

a absolute MO fo&^%$#@!!.

the trick i do for the throttle linkage is reach down with needle nose vise grips or sometimes you can get it barely with the screwdriver to get it loose once loose a very long dainty screw driver will walk it out, you need the throttle linkage tipped out of the way, then you can do the other carb nut, without pulling the rope recoil assembly.

pop the carb clean it up ........and the trick is take the screw that holds the linkage on....... to the grinder and grind it into a 4 point bolt now you can reach down in there with a little wrench and tighten it up when your done a small drop of red locktight is a good idea,.

alternative is pull the rope recoil and have the sucker come unwound...woohoo no fun there.

geez, what I said is the trick...you guys obviously have not worked on a OMC 9.9/15, its a very tight deal, no room for a allen wrech , plus its a special shoulder screw that bottoms out when tight and still lets the linkage pivot., I have done dozens of them, you can fight it or do it this way and be done in 20 mins.
