I'm getting more serious about boat building lately, my next project will be for trout fishing with the kids on lake Leland (Olympic Penn.) and other local lakes. I figure 2 adults and 3 girls totalling 600#s of human and probably 50 - 60 pounds gear. I have narrowed down the selection to a skiff of 12ft or a punt of about 15 ft. The skiff is a little wider so the actual size of cockpit is about the same. I plan on skulling either boat with maybe the addition of an electric troling motor eventually. Fishing methods will be trolling, float and worm and various lures.

Which do you guys think I should build?

Thanks

Ron

I have a 10' glass boat that I haved fished two adults and three kids out of before but it is really really tight. I am sure a 12' would float your family just fine. Think of how you all would sit wile fishing, storage, hauling, and so on.

A Livingston would be perfect for the small space, but large weight requirements.
