I thought the fishing was tough last weekend. Sunday was one of those days that make you think you know nothing about Kokanee fishing.

We started in a thick fog (I am glad I have all the channels marked on my fishfinder). The surface water temp was 54 F and it was 52 F at 35 feet at one spot I checked.

There were not a lot of suspended schools and lots of fish seemed glued to bottom, which means I lost gear trying to fish deep.
We only managed to boat 4 fish for the day. I lost 4 or 5 as well and they were the bigger fish. Everyone I lost was doing aerial acrobats when they threw the hook. Two fish were caught on an orange Apex, one on a green bladed green wedding ring, and one on a Lollypop Bug.

We also try bait fishing and jigging with no luck.

Talk at the boat ramp confirmed it was very very slow. The weather was spectacular however.

I am sure glad I am not the only one who has days like this. Lately it has seemed that I have these kind of days as often as not. The fact that you have a few of them too gives me hope.

Thanks for reporting. Wonder if Wickiup is going into an early funk like it did last year? You guys tried all of the options and that's all any of us can do. At least you had some decent action which is more than I can say for myself over there last year. Still waiting for Crescent to warm up a little and the bite to turn on.

Was humbled at Crescent twice last week so now I don't feel quite so bad. Was good talking to you Sunday. We got into the fish at Odell Sunday but quit after getting all the dinks,( 8"-11" ) we wanted. Sure a weird year. The Crescent fish are smaller then average also, at least the few we managed. Tough weather wed-sat but good as it gets on Sun. Better luck to us next time!

I'm in...humbled at Paulina yesterday. Watched my friend catch a bunch on flies while I tried to get the little guys in a fish with everything under the sun. Came home with sunburns and no fish. Nobody else seemed to be catching much either.

K-sled, we didn't put a tape on them but the few we caught were around 11-12" and not all that fat.

Looks like we're finally going to get some decent weather starting Thursday. Heading over to Odell late Thursday afternoon for the weekend. Right now getting out on the water in the sunshine catching kokes of any size sounds pretty darn good. Might even get lucky and nail a mack. If you're around PC campground stop by and say howdy!

Marshworm, I thought we would see you at Suttle this last weekend, what did you do sleep in?

no sleepin in here...just reviewed my notes on kokes and Suttle last Thursday night and came to the conclusion that most likely attempting to fish kokes at Suttle would be a most humbling experience. Thanks for the verification.
