View Full Version : Trollmaster Pro II ???
For those of you that have the Trollmaster Pro II with the MFT button(momentary full throttle), I was wondering if that button can be held down for an extended period of time and not cause any problems?
For example, I may need to quickly get out of someone's way or move to another location. By holding the MFT button down I would not have to turn the dial knob or go back to the kicker and use the manual throttle.

Yes you can.
Not a problem. We do it often in windy or crowded locations. My wife also thinks it fun if she catches me dozing in the back of the boat.:) I have also used it to set the hook when I am "under cover" and away from my pole.
Thanks for the reply guys. I also talked to Bill at Trollmaster and he said no problem as long as the servo is not under undo load.

I've got a 4 year old Trollmaster Pro. I run it on my mercury 8 hp 4 cycle kicker. It's the older analog model with a numeric dial and toggle switches for the "on/off" and "run/idle" switches. A couple of years ago I couldn't get the throttle to increase until I had turned the setting up to 4 or 5 mph. Then it would kick in and I'd have to turn it down to get my proper trolling speed. Everything else worked fine. Last week I was out on the CR and my Trollmaster Pro wouldn't work. It was like it had no power. I checked the fuses and they were OK. I checked the wiring to see if it was running too close to the battery and causing interference, it wasn't. I checked the voltage on all the wiring from the controller bacl to the battery, the ground on the main engine and up to the servo unit on the kicker. I had 12 volts of power on everything except the servo unit. The wiring into the servo unit had 12 volts but the servo only registered 6 volts. Anyone got any ideas. I even put grease on the connection as I saw suggested on any forum. FYI: the new owners of Trollmaster will sell me a new digital model Trollmaster Pro II at a discounted rate because of being a present customer. But, hey! I'd rather fix it than come up with a couple of hundred bucks if I don't have too. Any help appreciated.

I would call Bill at Trollmaster and ask but most Model Plane servos (same thing) run at 6 to 7.4 volts. My guess is they are steping the voltage down in the controller from 12.

My brand new Unit went bad on a Sunday Morning after working fine the day before. I did the troubleshooting of it when I got home. I hooked one of my son's servos from his RC cars and it worked. Called the company and they sent me a new one under warranty. You can take the servo off and take it into a Hobby shop and have it tested and get a new one there or go one line.

Capt. Kirk, goatram, budnate:
Thanks for the info. I like the idea of taking the servo to a hobby shop and having them test it. I never thought of that.
Thanks guys, I'll try and post the results.

Hey Guys! I took Capt. Kirk's advice and went to my local hobby shop, Remote Control Hobbies, Covington, WA. They tested my old servo, it didn't work. Gears striped out. But....they had a new one that had three times the torque as my old one for $39.95. I tried it and it worked.
FYI: The new servo has the same amount of torque as Trollmaster's upgrade so I think I'm in good shape and I save a bundle. Thanks for your assistance. Gotta go, Fish On!
