Alright I picked up this boat a few weeks back and have had it out at the lake 4 times and everything seemed to be fine....Yesterday while at the lake after about 15 minutes driving around the lake it started sounding like it was starving for fuel at full throttle and when ya backed of the trottle it seemed fine but if ya got back on the pedal it started doing it again so I just stayed off the gas....well the last time out driving aroound it started backfiring out the carb...so I headed back to the ramp but died before I got there....Anyway....started with distributor and cap looked finre not wet, plug wires all look okay so I pulled out a plug and to my suprise the electrode was busted with no gap and 4 more were that way???????

Thanks,
they looked just like the Mechanical Damage Plugs..ugh....the motor is running rich so there could be alot of carbon build up behind the valves, or when the guy had the heads done they shaved to much off ,or if Im lucky the plugs were the wrong ones and two long, or if the motor had been bored out they might not of used the right head gaskets

ya the cam definately is not stock....it has a BB Ford 460...when the guy sayed he had the top end rebuilt and not the bottom I should have walked on over to St helens and picked up the other boat that had a fresh BB chevy in it....But it sure sounds great when its running...UGH!!....When I get the heads off I will be able to see what the prob is???..... I dont want to run it anymore...with my luck I will seize that baby right up...LOL.... I was so excited when I put the new plugs in and she fired right up and purred like a stock car.....my first thought was that the timming chain jumped a few teeth....Im still going to pick up another block and rebuild another motor so I know what I have.
