I am the original owner. Motor has maybe 20 hours on it.
This honda has always been cold-blooded. Meaning it has never really run right when cold.

Takes many starts to get going, runs for about 3 seconds then chokes and dies.

If it does start running the idle is errtic and if you touch the throttle it dies.
Chokes, stumbles then the idle shoots up, holds for a second or two then comes back down.

after a few minutes of running she purrs like a kitten. Although I have noticed on the last two salmon trips she quit running when out chasing a fish and was hard to start back up.

What could be the problem?
Fuel plumed to my main tank....no issues on big motor. I just replaced the fuel bulb thinking it was fuel starved - problem still exists.

Was thinking of taking it to Sportcraft Marina. I am out of ideas.

Do you have a check valve on the line to your kicker other than the bulb ?...
Have you changed the fuel filter on the kicker under the cowling ?...
Is there a kink in the fuel line ?...
Maybe your float in the carb is not working properly , out of adjustment ...
Have you tried running it on a remote tank to see if there is any difference ...
It sounds like lack of proper fuel flow to Me ...

Even though I have a check valve besides the bulb on my main tank plumbed T-8 kicker, sometimes I have to run the main 5.7 chevy jet a minute to fill up the water separator filter to assure I have proper flow or it will die sometimes ...

Sounds very similar to problems I was having with the kicker on my drifter. Problem for me was the fuel plug not fitting corectly to the motor (no matter how many different plugs I tried! Eeerrr!), I took the plug off, and straight plumbed the line into the motor, and wa la! no more problems

But check fishkissers info first. Wealth of knowledge, and very valuable to this forum! If you lived closer FK, I'd buy you a beer!:applause:

Here is a "problem" I found with my 2004 Honda 8, something you may want to try: If I squeeze the bulb until firm, the motor floods EVERY SINGLE TIME. It then starts very hard, will run only a few seconds, and dies when I touch the throttle, many of your symptoms. If I squeeze the bulb only one time, maximum of twice, depending on how much fuel I "feel", the motor will start on the first or second pull, and run perfectly. This is true whether I run the motor off the fuel separator for both motors, or off the portable tank. Just a thought about your problem.....
