Went to Crescent today with Tom (rum runner) and Mark (Eagleclaw) It was 35 breezy and snowing when we got there. We decided to troll for macks 1st and hoped that the wind would lay down so we could target kokanee. Tom picked this guy up on the 1st pass.http://www.ifish.net/gallery/data/500/medium/IMG_03832.JPG (http://www.ifish.net/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/79265/size/big/cat//ppuser/8168)
If you're only going to catch 1 fish, make it a good one. We saw about 8-10 kokanee boats out there, never saw a net fly and they were all pretty much off the water by 10 AM. It got uncomfortably rough shortly after that. We got off by 11 and decided to see how nasty Odell was. Much to our surprise it was relatively flat. We launched at Shelter Cove and saw a few guys with bags of cleaned kokanee! A good sign.
We made a run for macks since we had that gear all ready to go and never turned a fish. The kokanee guys were slowly thinning out. Saw a few jigging by Trapper creek end and a few trolling. Weather conditions got steadily worse and we bailed by 3pm. Water was 44 at Crescent and 42 at Odell. Still need a few degrees warmer for good koke action.
I'll leave you with a parting shot of what a beautiful summer June day looked like at Odell at 2pm today.http://www.ifish.net/gallery/data/500/medium/IMG_03841.JPG (http://www.ifish.net/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/79266/size/big/cat//ppuser/8168)
Yes folks, thats snow not fog. By the way Princess Creek campground is open, Trapper Creek is not. The 1st campground at Crescent is open.
