We recently went our annual Deschutes trip this past weekend and I thought I would share the adventure. Trout Creek was super chocolatey so we went up to Warm Springs. The water was better but the fish were not on the bite.

This was the sad sight at TC. It took a few miles for the entire width of the river to turn brown. Our group of 8 managed one fish on our full day of fishing Friday. Nymph of course.

The fishing was poor but the company was better than average. Fried chicken was in the pan and all was good!

Whitehorse was big, almost as big as the two in the front of this boat! Sorry Dan.

This was my dad's first fly fishing trip and unfortunately for him, his first was a whitefish-but he did not care!

Camp on day two from above. We spooked a covy of chukars with about a dozen babies who could not have been but a few days old. I reached for my gun and I am afraid that if I had one I would not have held back from the little buggers. REVENGE!

Five minutes before the take out and in between the heavy showers on Saturday morning, I finally managed a respectable fish on a dry. Great fighter!

Going to South Junction the weekend of the 13th.
Keeping my fingers crossed that it will clear up by then.
Does anyone know the current CFS?

Was the stonefly/salmonfly hatch happening?

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

-Breck

The big bugs are out in force, especially below whitehorse. There were clouds of them but if the fish cannot see them, they can't eat them.

Chromer - is that a 5 pound propane tank or 10 pound? Either or, how long does that last you on a trip? Thanks
