I have an oil leak from my L trim ram. It looks like it is just a seal. Has this happened to anybody yet? Is it difficult to repair? I would like to do it myself if possible.

Shouldn't be to hard to tilt it up all the way and replace the cap assy. Only problem may be corrosion

Thanks. Shouldn't be that much corrosion. Boat and motors only 2 years old. Do you see this much Boat Doc? Is it something I did or did the seal just give out?

If the motor is only two years old it should be a warrantee repair. Why would you want to fix it yourself? Let your dealer do it for free. HJ

The reason why I wanted to fix it myself is due to the fact the shops here in the Tri-Cities area can't get me in for 2-3 weeks. I brought it by one of the local Yamaha shops and had a good experience. They ordered both R and L trim caps to replace. Come to find out you need a special tool to get the caps off. He said he will squeeze me in when the parts get here. I had to laugh when I called Northwest Jet Boats and told the service manager about the problem. He kept telling me it was North River's problem. I kept saying isn't it a Yamaha problem. And aren't you guys a Yamaha dealer. He tried to tell me I should of bought locally. Needless to say I will not be doing any business with them.
