Mercury sensor and operating the motor?

I found a broken Engine coolant temp sensor in my 2004 60hp mercury outboard broken today. The engine had a steady audible alarm from it not working right. I have ordered a new one. My question is can I safely run the boat without the sensor working for the next day or so without issues? I have never had a coolant problem and I have a water gauge and oil temp gauge.

you could run it, however you have or will disable the alarm system and would have to rely on your gauges
