Memorial Day on the Big D

After our plans to float the John Day went up in smoke with the hot the temps a week ago we opted for the Big D. My buddy Ryan has been telling me he's got the hook up for the Dallles Rod and Gun Club cabins's for the last 2 years but he finally delivered. What a grand place to spend 4 days even if the weather was less than ideal. I had planned on taking my DB but opted for the raft given the high flow. I was really amazed at how fast we floated from TC to NJ. The first night we got the premo camp at Whiskey Dick's then pushed on to the cabin's for the next three days. Fishing wasn't red hot but we did pretty good, mostly nymphing with small pheasant tails and we also got a few on caddis flies. Working the back eddie seams/feed troughs seemed to be the most productive but we also did quite well in the grass lines. What a great trip!!

Good call on using the raft. Of course you KNOW you could do it in the hard boat but the raft takes off some of the anxiety eh'?

Yeah I chickened out MM. After a cancelation opened up on the raft I couldn't park the DB quicker. Definetly made the trip more relaxing:wink:
