Fished Brownlee today, lots of small crappie and a few small bass. Really hard for me to keep 7 to 8" crappie for what little meat there is on a fish this size. That be said I did keep 10 for dinner. Wish they were bigger. On the way home hit a check station with 13 Idaho Fish and Game and one Oregon state officer. Talked to them about what they were looking for, was told mainly filited and under sized bass. Asked the head guy if there was any talk about crappie limit and size limit. Said Idaho was happy with the system that they have now but was watching this years fish. Anyway learn lots about problems they are having with the fish and people. People please know the laws:).
Did hear of one 17" crappie got on Sunday and seen a perch that looked like it would go 15":thisbig:. Would love to catch a few perch that size. They are also starting to get a few nice catfish! Happy fishing Olg

I'm heading up to Brownlee June 7...boating out of Hewitt on the Powder River arm. We're combining bowfishing for carp and panfishing.
Are the Carp spawning yet? We usually hit 30#-40#'ers. Some years we're too late!
Wondering what's the update.
Thanks,
BU

I assume you do your bowfishing in the flats? All I can say is that 2 weeks ago there was no powder flats. The water has raised 33 feet in the last 2 weeks, so I have no idea what the carp are doing. Heck, I'm not sure the carp even know what they are doing.

It's hard to tell with the weather we have been having. The Powder and Eagle Creek are running high, lots of cold water coming in fast. I'm looking out the window at the Powder now and it's running high and light brown. Looks like an irrigation ditch blew out again. On the other hand, the fish are already active in that area. I had a catfish charter Saturday and caught 20 good ones that we intercepted on their way to the flats. On Friday we had a carp take a jig and watched another boat battle a bigger one for 20 minutes. They are stout. PM me as your trip gets closer if you wish.
