I took a drive to a boat ramp this morning and brought my bass gear to make a few casts from the bank. I was surprised to see around 10 people fishing from the the dock. As I watched I noted that they were all catching a lot of pee mouth, I thought that was great. The thing I did not like is the fact that they were catching a lot of bass and keeping them all. I walked over and watched for a while and asked them if they knew fishing off the docks was to illegal and pointed out the sign. They said that it was just for that dock the sign posted on. I did not get into the legal facts of the fish they were keeping. I did note that the bass were all going in a cooler so I do think they may have known the regulations. As I was leaving two uniformed Sheriffs were walking down to the ramp and asked me if I was with that group on the docks. I was more than happy to inform them that I was not. I did point out that they were keeping all the bass they were catching and I knew the regulations limited each person to 6.
I left and when I came by later they were mostly gone with a few fishing from the bank:applause:. I hope they weeded through them and gave each person a ticket for the laws that were being broken .

That's almost a miracle. One time, David Swendseid and I were prefishing on the Willamette when we came across a guy spearfishing smallmouths an keeping everything. Moments later we got checked by a Sheriff and we mentioned that a guy was spearfishing, to which he replied " that's legal as long as he has a fishing license". I wonder if it was a mistake for me to advise him to find a friend that can read and have that person read the regs to him?? he he
