Going to take the kids fishing tomorrow undecided on where to go. Considering Silver Lake. I live in Battle Ground so Oregon is not out of the question. I would like to get into some crappie any help would be appreciated. I read the thread about the St. Paul area, is there a boat launch there or some way to get close enough to the water with boat and trailer? 16' aluminum. I also wanted to thank everyone who posted their local and snake river reports, keep them coming.:applause:

not much luck at catching them cappies this time of year at silver. You would be better off fishing for the gills they are getting ready to spawn. Fish timber point and in the pads and down by the dam shallow in the pads. shallow Pilings can some times be good (far west piling row). If they do not catch gills take some soft bread and roll it into one inch balls and go carp fishing. You will catch a bunch around 15 pounds:thisbig:, Look for a nice sized open area in the pads and NEAR the shore. and hang on! you need a good sized area so they do not get caught in the pads, but they hang out in the pads and in the shallows. you will have a chum dinger of a time (oops hum dinger), chumming is out lawed.

Thanks for the info. Roger I appreciate it. Is it still to cold at Silver Lake?

Spawn is over for crappie and they have moved out in to the main lake. The gills are schooling up and so easier to catch.

Water is (was?) about 60 deg. Bass were few and far, and crappies as well. We got a few of each but nothing of size. Gills are starting to stack and we really laid into them however. Carp are everywhere, as usual.

Thanks to all that replied. We ended up going to Lacamas Lake, fished the north side (store side). The boys had a good time even though they only caught 2 perch each! They were all smiles! :D We fished from the bank, I'll take the boat next time we go there.
