I don't think the state of Oregon will be happy with you keeping bullfrogs.
I think its illegal.

thanks for the reply but the web sight that you sent me states that all of the animals are illegal to keep as pets except {THE BULL FROG} even though they are not native so there should be no problem.

You may want to check into it. I'm pretty sure it's illegal to release bull frog's alive. We did a study on them last year and had to kill all the one's we caught.

It is illegal. From that site linked.
"It is ecologically harmful and now illegal for wildlife damage control agents and the public to relocate these species of nonnative wildlife to the wild once captured. "
And I am pretty sure that would apply to a home pond as it could easily migrate to surrounding areas.
Best thing would be to find native species to stock your pond.

So lets split hairs, if your not keeping them as a pet, then you are spreading a nonnative species.
Note the caption at the bottom of the page I sent.
To protect Oregon's native wildlife, it is illegal to possess or relocate the following species:
Virginia Opossum
Fox Squirrel
Eastern Gray Squirrel
Eastern Cottontail
Nutria
Egyptian Goose
Bullfrog
Red-eared Slider
Snapping Turtle
I think technically if you get some, place them in your koi pond, that would be considered relocation. I think the only legal leg you could have for bullfrogs in your Koi pond is if they established themselves naturally.

If you have a pond you shouldnt need to put frogs in it. They will just show up on thier own.

I'll bet that the neighbors will really upset if the giant bullfrogs escape your pond and keep hopping into their frying pan!:D

Howdy, elkfivebear..........
if'n you take a ride to the booniedocks or anywhere look in some puddles, water in ditchs, rainwater in some gullies, gravel pits, etc...................................yuu mite see some leopard, tree frog tadpoles, etc.....................:D
the problem is probably many of these tadpoles will die because the puddle will dry up before they become frogs.....................such is the way of nature..............

A few years back our pond was infested with the African ( edit: after looking at pictures, they may not be Africans??? Black with yellow lightning type stripes) Bull Frogs and polly wogs. Once we introduced Bass into the pond the frogs mysteriously disappeared.:applause::applause::applause:
I can tell you those African frogs are very loud at night, and rumor has it they are so aggressive they will eat baby ducklings.
We first thought it was a novelty to have these frogs in our pond, now were are glad they are gone.

We have frogs the size of a silver dollar in our pond that are louder than any bullfrog I've ever heard. They seem to call and answer each other from dusk till dawn.
A great blue heron visits once in a while for lunch or dinner. My boys are encouraged to skim them out whenever they can.
Frogs will find you.

The frogs in your pond are very vocal right now because it's their mating season you will find they will start to quite down in the next few weeks. We never imported frogs to our back yard pond just kinda came now I can hardly watch tv in the evening with the slider open to noisy with their chirping. Build it and they will come !!!

Bullfrogs eat the NATIVE Boxturtle babies. Eliminate them.

Bull frogs seem like a good idea but they certainly or not. If there are any native frogs which i am guessing there are at least tree frogs, in your area they will disappear. Bull frogs are absolutlly ruthless. Do everyone(especially native frogs) a favor and dont introduce them to an area. Plus like other have stated im guessing it is illegal.

Not to be THAT GUY, But I don't think there are box turtles native to Oregon. We do have Western Painted Turtles and Western Pond Turtles, and yes, bullfrogs will eat the young ones......:flowered:
