View Full Version : Inoperable Liver Cancer - Got Prayer?

I have been on Ifish for about six years now (I think). I have learned a lot, met friends I love and felt a part of the family all along.

It is at this time I need your prayers.

I have been battling liver disease for almost 30 years now. First and for most of that time, hepatitis C. Through Interferon/Ribavirin therapy and most of all, with the healing power of Jesus, I received deliverance from that disease and have been virus free for almost a year and a half. God is so good!

Unfortunately, the Hep C has taken its toll and last September, two "spots" showed up in a CT Scan. The doctors decided to monitor them with a follow-up CT in 6 months. That happened this March and the two spots appeared more organized and in addition, a third organized tumor appeared, with numerous additional small spots. An angiogram was performed and it was determined I have Hepatacellular Carcinoma - liver cancer. I was told my only chance for survival is to get a liver transplant. I have been through two chemoembolization treatments, which for me, have re-defined "all-time worst" pain. It is a very invasive procedure in putting the chemo, by way of a catheter up the femoral artery, right into the site of the tumors.

After a second chemoembolization (in a series of 3), and by additional CT's and angiograms, it's been determined my condition is inoperable. In short, they will continue the chemoembolizations; there are a couple of other chemo's they will attempt and there is a way to radiate the tumors by puting a radioactive pill near them through the femoral artery. However the medical community considers all these to be stop-gap measures delaying the inevitable. The doctor doesn't put a specific time on it, only to say, "a matter of months, to possibly two years."

I am truly the most blessed man on the face of this earth. All the experiences in my life, for good or bad, all the tremendous family and friends around me, the company I work for that is so unbelieveably supportive - I have survived and all good that has happend has been orchestrated by the hand of my loving and merciful God. The joy in my heart and the beautiful place I'm in today, is due to His preparing me in advance for the battle I must face. Halleujah and praise be to the God most high!

Though the medical community has had their say - I don't believe for one second that God has yet fully had his. It is with this, that I humbly ask for your prayers for healing; for prayers that my family will remain strong and know the peace that only comes from securely resting in the arms of the Lord Jesus; and that God's glory will shine through all of this, so that when people see this battle waged, they will know it to be a battle fought by and for the Almighty.

I know with the spiritual healing He has granted me and with his deliverance of previous illness and from so many other things the world has to offer, all things are possible.

Praise be to God and I give all thanks for your love and support.

Hang in there you have the right attitude, I know it not fun to be sick and in pain most of the time. I was told the same thing as far as time frame 4 years ago and have made it this far. The first of this year I was told again to get my things in order I had maybe 6 month to a year tops, you just never know you have to have faith and determination. I have a son that is still 2 years away from graduation from high school I plan on being there to see it. Keep positive, keep as active as you can, and have faith and you never know what can happen.:flowered:

What an amazing testimony of your faith! It's so inspiring to see how positive you are and giving God the glory. I'm praying that God will either heal you miraculously and/or provide a transplant available to you as well as give you strength, encouragement, and support through all of this. God bless you and your family!

Thanks for all your kind thoughts, best wishes and most of all, prayers!

As God performs the miraculous, I have even greater opportunities than ever before to praise Him, to witness and to see His glory done. I'm finding that, when my eyes are on the Almighty, I don't see the downside in this disease. If I focus on Him, the cancer kind of fades into the background, overshadowed by His grace and love.

And in the meantime... He puts on the hearts of all of you to offer comfort and prayer, an offering of love which further glorifies Him.

That, of all the things He has in his domain in the universe, He still has that kind of love to devote to us... what a great Father!

Blessings and thanks, Dave Worsley

Dave emailed me and let me know he was going in at 9:00AM for his third chemoembolization treatment. I know this is late, I didn't see the email till I got up this morning (we are 15 hours ahead here). Please keep this man in your thoughts and prayers. From the way these treatments have been described to me, they are pure torture!!! Thanks for all your efforts!! Balou

Re: Please help out my friend if you can.
Your friend and I have some shared experiences, Like HepC and Interferon/Ribavarin. That treatment damn near killed me but it also got rid of the HepC and I still test "undetected". But I had the transplant back in '93 and it sounds like it's easier than what he's going through now. I went through treatments and stuff back then but I was also "delaying the inevitable". I was lucky - livers were much more available then and the biggest danger is lasting long enough for a transplant.

A transplant is not the end of the world - it's the beginning. Believe me, the sicker you get and the closer to dying you get the more you start WANTING it. Remember that all the docs and nurses you talk do have no idea of what it's like to go through these treatments and operations as they've never had them performed on themselves. Ask your doc what a liver biopsy feels like - they have no idea but I've had 6 of them. Do not fear a transplant - just pray you get one. 3-4 months afterwards you'll be better than you've been for a long time!

Please help out my friend if you can.
Many Prayers for his healing, Peace, and Comfort sent that way...

Please help out my friend if you can. Prayers sent for your buddy. Those treatments don't sound like a walk in the park at all.

I am just in shock. I've been so busy I haven't been around for a while. Usually, that is a good thing and means that I have been well, but it also means that I'm not as connected with you all spiritually, as much as I should be.

I am so sorry. I will pray on my hands and knees for you.

When no words will do, I will send up prayers for you.
