Hows it the water looking, or expected to look for this weekend? Any dry fly action picking up? I will be camping somewhere along it this coming memorial weekend! Thanks for any reports/info guys! -BH:flowered:

I live on the river at Hayden Bridge. Running pretty high and fast at the moment. Off colored for this time of year as well. I dont think it will drop anytime soon with all the snow up high. I wouldn't suspect dry's would do anything, waters to fast.

Bring your snorkle gear. I would suggest trying somewhere else. It is unfishable at this point. It could come down, but it is unlikely.
I fished the Met and Fall this week and they both fished well. The Met was high and off color; but still fishable, and the Fall was just as clear as ever.

I'll agree with these guys-sort of. It is high and off color for this time of year but the recent cooler temps have brought the river down quite a bit from where it was to under 10,000 cfs for the first time in quite a while.
I'm not fishing it this weekend but if you are here and really want to . . . stay low, Deerhorn to Hendricks or Deerhorn to Bellinger. It is fishing ok despite the high water--cased caddis imitations have been producing best. Good luck--be safe.

Floated the Mckenzie on Monday from Deerhorn to Hendricks Bridge. The water was really big and pushy. I could hardly anchor and didn't get to take my hands off the sticks too often. My buddy caught one planter and one decent sized whitefish. We did see a big trout take a gander at his orange indicator. Has it seen a couple salmon flies? There were a few Mckenzie greens and some PMD's and some 12-14 brown caddis.
Overall, not good. Since I live in Thurston it's almost worth my time, otherwise I'd recommend saving your gas.
Did see a salmon roll at Hendricks Bridge--first I've seen this year.
