Anyone fished the Holy Water area on the Rogue recently? I'm heading up there for the first time and I was wondering what everyone is using for steelies. Thank you.

That is a really nice stretch of water. The fish are very well educated. You gotta be good...

There are no Steelhead in the Holy Water. There are some Steelhead-sized Trout, but as has been stated, they are well-educated. With the high outflows from the dam, the water will be moving pretty fast and probably won't fish very well. Check with the fly shop in Shady Cove. Not sure of its name. The Salmon Fly hatch is coming up shortly. A good time to fish it is when the hatch first starts. Once it is in full swing, there are so many bugs that the fish quickly become glutted, and it's hard to interest them in your artificial when there are thousands of real bugs on the water and in the air. (This hatch can be very profuse)
