Hi all,
I had a TC to Harpham float planned for this coming monday but I'm sweating this heat and watching levels go up!
Do you think it will be at a fishable level monday? Or do you think the level will rise to an unfishable level.
I ask because I have to let my work know today so I can get the time off.
Thanks TONS,
Chris

WS to TC might be ok. Below there is a crapshoot. Whitehorse rapids is giant right now so take care and pick a good line.
I was there last Sat & Sun and fishing was descent but not great. The clarity is way off and the levels are very high (higher than the graph shows). Look at the moody graph and that is more representative of what you will have if you are floating to Harpham.

I fished Wed from WS to TC and the river was comming up. There was a small caddis hatch in the afternoon, and the fish were keying in on them. I would agree with S&L and say it is a roll of the dice! I would call down to your flyshop of choice in maupin and see what they have to say.

If the Deschutes fishable?
Not really. We busted a total of 4 fish all day Sunday, WS to TC. NOt sure the best way to describe the river level...it's really high. Memorial weekend is going to be a bust.

They raised it 600cfs sunday night, It is now 5650cfs coming out of the dam and 10200cfs at moody. Water temp WS-TC 51F. Good Luck.

Just got back from a 3 day float-tc to harpham. Water is very high but running fairly clear 4-5 foot vis. Despite the high water the fishing was good when you could find some softer water (not easy). Black stonefly nymphs were the go to fly. the salmon flies are really starting to come off around maupin. Only a few guides working the water, very peacefull.
