First entry is this small 18-½ inch rainbow I caught on 15 May. It is the first entry for the categories of Stillwater trout and Oregon trout. Hopefully it won’t be a leader for very long!
I caught the rainbow in a private lake near Vernonia. I was using a floating line and a #12 peacock Stillwater nymph:

Here is my first entry. This fish was caught in this weekend. It was a nice 20.5 inch brown from a river in the eastern oregon.

I caught it on a size 20 flash back pheasant tail that has peacock thorax. I shot the pheasant that made the fly, I tied the fly and I built the 4 weight that I caught the fish on.

This is a 21 inch rainbow that was caught in a private pond in southern Idaho this weekend. This fish was originally brood stock for a fish research station before it was stocked here last fall. It survived the winter and was still here this weekend. It was probably around five pounds.

I caught it on a rubber legged green butted skunk. This was by no means finesse fishing but still a good challenge and lots of fun.

I am new to the ifish community and saw this competition. Although I did not register, I will show you average fish for this area that would win this competition each year. These were caught in Southern Oregon in June 2008 in spring creeks using 9' 6 weight rods, medium sink lines and small woolly buggers (size 10) with long tails. It reminded me of fishing for redfish in the marsh creeks in South Carolina more that flyfishing for trout. The first one is 25" while my buddy's fish was measured at over 28". He was visiting from Jackson, WY and was selling a fly-fishing ranch down on the Upper Williamson and wanted to fish some other streams in the area. This is what he got:
