I am new to this site and I would like to thank the people that make this site posible and the people that have took the time to post so much helpfull information.
I am new to Central Oregon and would like to pry some info out of some fellow ifishers about bass fishing Prineville Res. Where to launch and some good fishing spots. I have a 9' pontoon boat with trolling motor and fish finder so I can get around the lake pretty good. Any info is much appreciated.
Thanks, Jared
Also, if anyone is interested in fishing information about southeast oregon I was born and raised there. Maybe I can help? (Lakeview and surounding area)

I too have a Prineville Res ?. Is the new ramp at the dam open? Anyone have any first hand info.
Now so I don't hijack the thread. With a pontoon boat you can drive around to either the salt creek arm or the bear creek arm and launch your pontoon. As well as the eastern end of the lake from the Paulina Hwy. These arms are more warmwater fisheries. Should be good amount of crappie and a ton of small catfish. Work out along the boulder shorelines and you will also find plenty of smallmouth and a few largemouth. and a bonus, these are more protected and won't have all the waterskiers/wakeboarders that pollute the rest of the lreservoir.:D
Good Luck

How acessible is the upper part of the lake when it comes to driving up there to launch my pontoon? Do I go up to the lake the state park way? I have heard there is a road along the north side of the lake along the willows, is this true?
Thanks for the info, Chuckardave1

There is a road along the north side but it's not advisable to tow a pontoon boat over it even during the best of conditions. Currently the rez is at 101% capacity so there are a couple of spots where the road's flooded.

Hey thanks for the info guys. I am thinking of going up there this weekend and camping. Just looking for some good spots, and places to drop in my pontoon for some bass.
I went up to LBC tonight and fished for bass. Caught alot of little ones, but I did catch some bigger ones also. They liked anything pink or purple in plastic, fished right up close to the rip rap. Alot of kokanee jumping also.
Thanks Again Guys, Jared

Thanks for the info sneekee and boglag. I went to craine today, water was between 63 and 65 the bass are up in the shallows but are hard to get to bite caught one on plastics and one on a black spinner bait. You can see them swimming around all around, but dont seem much interested in eating.???

If the fish are up shallow, swimming around, they're warming their bods in the sunshine. Look to any good cover and shade for those in the eating mood (i.e., ambushing chow).
I've met and fished with BukuBass, and whatever he says is very likely to be good and current information, IMO. :twocents::applause: C&R, Steve

I was there yesterday. The new ramp is open and very nice. 1 problem, the dock is listing slightly but otherwise all is well. It is a very nice facility, lots of parking.

I grew up in Prineville. To get to the far end of the lake head out of Prineville on Paulina highway. That will take you right to where the Crooked river starts to form the lake. At that point you turn onto a dirt road and how far up that road you can get is determined by the conditions and your vehicle. In the summer, a 2wd can get you fairly far up if. The road follows the lake the whole way, and at one point you will find an area with a lot of brush in the water and just beyond that some great rock faces that drop into the water. I remember going out there when I was younger and hooking 50 or 60 crappie a day each, with several other people. TONS of catfish and some nice bass as well.
