I was wondering if anyone knows of a good one day float out of a DB on the John Day for smallies, and also if there is a shuttle service up that way also. Thanks in advance.

The water should be really high and murkey after we get some hot weather, and you could probably do Service creek to twickingham in a few hrs. It's a pretty full day at optimal fishing levels of 750-1000cfs. I think they might be biting, but you would probably fly down the river as it rises. As for shuttles, I don't recall where my friend who does that part gets the shuttle, but check the NW Rafting Assn website, they may have a number, as might the Wil Kayak Canoe club website. It fishes best on the drop, and it will probaly boogey for another month.

Service Creek Stage Stop has shuttles and a web site, I hope it's OK to say that, mods.
There are also several shorter drifts above Service Creek. Spray to Service Creek is good IF the wind doesn't blow in the afternoon. It fishes well at 1200cfs to 800 or so in a drift boat. Lower than that and you'll scrape!!!
HAVE FUN!!!
