We finally got our boat! It's absolutely awesome. We took it out on Lake Billy Chinook for a bit of break-in time. I'm headed to Woodhead Friday to see if I can manage to catch a fish off the thing. We put a Mercury 150 EFI motor, a Lowrance LMS 520C fish finder w/ GPS, and a bunch of gas! WE didn't really get on it to see what it can do, but did hit 5000 RPM and got 54 mph out of it.
SEE YA ALL ON THE WATER!

Easy there Marshall......break it in right and it'll last a whole lot longer.
Optimax? Usually a 2stk gets 2x the normal oil mix for the 1st 30hrs with a particular rpm ramp up.
Not sure if the fuel injected auto mixers do that automatically or not, but I'd ask about break-in procedure.
Let me know too, as I'm curious what the break-in routine is for the Optimax. You know... for curiousitys sake.
Also those things have a brain that logs total hrs @ each rpm range.
I know that many folks check the log on resale/trade-in. So, very few hrs above 5K RPM is considered a good thing and commands top resale $$$.
Anyway, might do a little reading before racking up a bunch of hrs on the top end.

Ok, enough slapping you on the wrist for enjoying your new ride.
That is one HOT looking ride....fer sure!!!
Congrats.

Oh BTW, I'll try sending that walleye email again today. It's kinda big so it might be over loading your inbox.

the break in for my optimax was as followed: first hour-run two minute intervals keeping a steady rpm between 3000-4000. hours 2-4-run ten minute intervals keeping a steady rpm. yes you do burn more oil, and run a different blend during break in

This motor is not an Optimax. It is a simple 150EFI 2 stroke. It does have automatic break in mixture settings (2x oil mix). We are breaking it in according to Mercury's instructions. It is supposed to run between 3000 and 4600 RPM for the first 4 hours of use. Short bursts of top throttle can be used for only 10 seconds. It will automatically switch from break in mode to normal fuel oil mixture once the break in period is done. It's all automatic. (Can't wait to hear feedback on that)
