Nice fish Roger. I have found that your '#1 lure' is my go to as well. When all else fails I can always seem to count on a 3" Senko (except for last weekend of course, as Tuan knows). Has one method (drop-shot, Texas , split shot, CR) emerged as your favorite this year? Also, I notice that you seem to like that bright green. Do you fish that more in stained water or are you successful with it regardless. I have that color in a 4" but haven't built up the confidence to try it yet. Based on your success maybe I should give it a go.

I use bright colors in low light or off colored water. I like to fish against the grain lots of times. Many people say black is best at low light. But one of my best colors then is not a color at all, it's white. for mid day I like natural colors like browns and greens and also smoke and some times blue and purple. I'm always trying other colors but not at first light I stick with my top three colors for that time of day chart., white and yellow. You have an eye for detail! This year For small mouth the drop shot is white hot! And it works great for the spring. You can keep it in one area for a long time. as the water warms I would switch to the split shot, but I will always have a drop shot rigged. and a wacky rig. I like wacky better for lakes. Good luck at hagg F.F.

Thanks hombre. I will be looking for your 6 pound hopefully 12 ounce fish by now :) Hopefully some crappie for the cooler. Or maybe some perch or bluegill even...

For you D-shot rig....are you fishing it horizontally and drag it slowly back to you, or are you fishing the drop shot vertically always out of a boat?
I don't have much confidence in it horizontally presented....but I did catch one the other day vertically.

I almost never fish it vertical. All my bass this year were on horiz. and I was shakin the ¥*%$ out of the thing not draging it. I only fish it vertical if im fishing water over 20 feet deep. Rich does alot of dragging and soft shakes from time to time and I shake it all the time but let it sink to the bottom from time to time. Rich and I are very even on the number of bass we catch with a drop shot so that tells me the two methods work about the same!

You guys make it sound easy, I have been fishing Hagg for weeks and have no Bass. I have been throwing a wacky rigged 4' senko smoke color and have not even had a bite. I have caught lots of planter trout, darn things. Rog, a nice pick me up PM from you to get my spirits up would help. I am gona pick up some chart 3' and read up on drop shoting. If I am looking for wood does submerged trees that are still alive hold fish? Any words of wisdom will help, thanks gents!

where do you catch bass at hagg from shore. I have a hard time getting them to bite when i am in a boat. I am thinking about taking my raft out in the sain creek arm, would this be safe?

I've swam acrossed the Sain creek arm with a rod in my hand, so I'm sure you can take your raft out.=)
